Week 3 January 30, 2021 Perspectives on Diversity and Culture

My objective of this lesson: Ask each person to share:                        My friend definition of culture: I define culture as beliefs, age, race, religion, or a  persons ethnicity.  My friend definition of diversity: It means being able to understand each person is unique and being able to recognize his/her differences. Which aspects of culture and diversity that I have studied in this  course are included in the answers I received—and what are some  examples? Which aspects have been omitted—and what are some examples  of such  omission? In what ways has thinking about other people’s definitions of culture and  diversity influenced my own thinking about these topics? One friend defined culture as:  religion, race, age, ethnicity, education, etc She later defined diversity as: gender, internationalities, etc.

FAMILY CULTURE                             (Is Everything)                       ·          A description of the three items you would choose: My items I would take:   *my family portraits      *my personal bracelet        *my personal birthday cards ·                 How you would explain to others what each of these items means to you I value my family, therefore, I would take my memories to keep me connected to them. I value my birthday bracelet and this is very dear to me which allows me to hold on because everything will be all right. I value my cards because the words speak a wealth of volume. ·                 Your feelings if, upon arrival, you were told that you could only keep one personal item and have to give up the other two items you brought with you I would keep the family portraits.
